The year 2020 will be special for the history of Malta. In June that year we will hold the 30th edition of the festival. We want this jubilee to be an opportunity for celebration, but also for a moment of reflection over the social role of the festival and art in general. That is why we are returning to our roots to look at Malta as an impossible, utopian island, which came to be in Poznań in the early 1990s, becoming a space for experimentation, discovering new worlds, but also defining communality.
For Malta’s 30th birthday we will witness an extraordinary reunion of artists who contributed to the development of Malta Festival Poznań. This way the Malta audience will reunite with projects of artists who have been co-creating the spirit of Malta throughout the last decade. It will also be a unique constellation of personalities, tastes, opinions and people who shape modern theatre and dance.
We invite you to a concert inaugurating the birthday edition, which will feature poems by Ryszard Krynicki set to the compositions of Paweł Mykietyn, Alek Nowak and Paweł Szymański created especially for Malta.
