"Armia jednostka / Army of the Individual" will be the theme of the Idiom of the 29th edition of Malta Festival Poznań, which will take place between 21 and 30 June 2019. Together with the curator and the invited artists, we will reflect on the notions of war and peace, conflict, freedom, individualism. Who sets the boundaries between these words? Where is the war going on?
– If you say "conflict" then the word that immediately comes to my mind is "inevitable". Conflict is inevitable. We just have to choose what kind of conflict we want. In the name of what conflict we want to live – Nástio Mosquito said.
The answer of Nástio Mosquito is the "Army of the Individual" and its premiere project, which we will see at the festival. The "unit army" is on the one hand the need to organize reality, tame chaos and discipline, and on the other hand, the need to express individuality and creativity, which allows finding new ways to survive.
In his works, Nástio Mosquito combines dance, music, digital art, audiovisual installations and happenings, exhibiting, among others, in Tate Modern in London, MoMA in New York, as well as in museums, theaters and festivals in Belgium, France, Germany and Portugal.
– It's not easy to pigeonhole me. I really like and respect people. If there's something that really interests me, it's dignity – read the entire conversation of Nástio Mosquito for "Gazeta Wyborcza" (Polish)
